Thanks to the hard workof our staff and volunteer partners, more than 23,000 volunteers from acrossall of AARP’s volunteer programs have successfully logged onto the NewVolunteer Portal! As we steadily introduce the Portal to more volunteers,it’s important that we hear feedback from volunteers and staff who have usedthis new platform.

Exciting New Volunteer Portal Updates !!
Here are some exciting updates on Portal use:
- Over 2,000 state volunteers have logged in to the New Volunteer Portal by the end of May
- More than 9,000 state volunteer expense reimbursement requests have been created in the New Volunteer Portal since launch with direct deposit reimbursements typically generated in 3-4 days.
The New Volunteer Portal will be unavailablebeginning Friday, June 10, 2016 9:00 PM EDT and Monday, June 13, 2016 6:00 AM EDT to undergo system maintenance and enhancements.
Below are a few items to note. These guidelines will be generalprotocol for any scheduled maintenance.
- Users will be unable to access the system during these times.
- Expense reimbursement requests approved prior to 9:00 PM EDT on Friday, June 10 will be scheduled for payment during the maintenance window.
- Users will not be able to submit or approve expense reimbursements during the maintenance window.
Once the maintenance window is complete and thesystem is back online, users will be able to resume regular system activities.

How do I login to the New Volunteer Portal?
Volunteers will receive an e-mail containing instructions for setting up login credentials. When appropriate, volunteers will login at http://volunteers.aarp.org.
What if I have questions?
1.Start with your training materials! There is a LOT to learn about the New Volunteer Portal. Take a moment to check out your guidebooks, tip sheets and short videos to help find your answer. Please take a look at some of the training materials located at the bottom of this page.
2.Ask your Champion! Your local champions have been regularly involved and supporting the New Volunteer Portal launch over the past few months. They have a wealth of information and experience to share. Contact your state office for more information!

- Instructors: Organize and teach AARP Smart Driver classroom courses at local community centers, libraries, hospitals and senior centers. AARP Driver Safety asks that volunteers be able to dedicate at least 10 hours to the program each month, and have Internet access and an email account. Please note that all AARP Driver Safety volunteer positions are unpaid. However, volunteers are reimbursed for approved out-of-pocket expenses, such as mileage, parking and basic supplies.
